Shop on FacebookSLS-free means the bar is made without sodium lauryl sulfate, a detergent that scientists use as a standard skin irritant in testing. Leaving it out removes one common irritant, which is why many people with sensitive skin look for it.
Lye-free means no lye remains in the finished bar. True soap is made by combining oils with an alkali such as lye. When soap is made properly, the reaction uses up the lye, so the finished product contains none.
